Effective Solutions for Keeping Cats Out of Your Garden

Are you tired of cats digging up your garden? Many of us love cats, but their antics can disrupt our outdoor spaces, leaving our flowerbeds and lawns in disarray. Fortunately, there are several effective strategies to minimise their presence in your garden.

1. If you feed birds, position your feeder away from fences or trees that cats might climb.
2. Consider planting prickly plants or using small pebbles to deter digging.
3. Install high, close-boarded fences to restrict access.
4. Build an outdoor litter box in an area where you don’t mind cats visiting.
5. Plant catnip in a designated spot to attract them away from sensitive areas.
6. Mix pine cones or eggshells into the soil to discourage them from lounging in your flowerbeds.
7. Use scents that cats dislike, such as orange peel, black pepper, or used tea leaves, to keep them at bay.
8. Consider planting Coleus canina (scaredy cat plant), lavender, or lemon thyme.
9. Catwatch – RSPB approved ultrasonic cat deterrent can also be an effective solution.
